The MAT (Mathematics Admissions Test) is a 2hr30 mathematics test. Of the 27 questions, 25 are mutliple choice, and 2 are explaination based (requiring detailed reasoning entered in text format).
The test mostly focusses on first year A Level Mathematics content, but there is some familiarity with second year A Level content assumed, and additional non-A Level material (depending on your schools exam board).
The test is delivered via a computer portal at the test centre (similar to the driving theory exam), with students provided with a booklet of mini-whiteboards for their working out.
Standard 1:1 Rate: £60/hr
Standard 1:2 Rate: £37.50/hr per student
Before your first tutorial you will be asked to R.A.G rate a copy of the MAT syllabus, so we can assess where you see the gaps in your content knowledge.
In your first tutorial, you and your tutor will work out a rough schedule together for filling these gaps. Quite often, students who take Further Mathematics A Level will have very few gaps in content knowledge, and may only require very brief recaps on specefic areas.
At the end of each session, you will be set homework to consolidate your learning, and stretch your problem solving ability.
Once we have reviewed any required content, we will move on to problem solving practice. In your tutorials, you will discuss solutions to past papers you have attempted yourself in high detail, and review content as needed.
